Some would ask, is this a trick question? Or more importantly, is there a right or wrong answer to this question? I probably would ask the second question myself, because truthfully, I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to this question. The frequency at which people clean their bathrooms depends on the number of individuals within the household. I researched this topic thoroughly, and relied on a few polls to help me dissect and concluded to a general consensus on this particular topic.
I referred to 2 separate polls, PollDaddy.com's and Home and Gardens at Cafemom.com. Each of these polls provided astonishing results.
According to PollDaddy.com, 38% of people say they clean their bathrooms once a month.
This is pretty shocking because the average number of persons per household is about 3 people. The average waste per person is 4.4 pounds per week, that's 52.8 pounds of waste that has accumulated in 1 month. Let's say only 18 pounds of that waste is accumulated in the bathroom, therefore cleaning a bathroom only once a month with 3 people in a household means at the end of the month, your bathroom is pretty filthy. I wouldn't even clean my bathroom once a month maybe once every 2 weeks.
According to CafeMom.com, 34% of people say they clean their bathrooms once a week.
Personally, I believe this is an answer people know you expect to hear from them. It's adequate, and makes them appear to be more sanitary than most. However, I don't think a majority of people clean their bathrooms once a week. Who has the time, really? I barely have the time to wash regularly, for the record, I don't even have kids.
So what's the real answer here? There isn't one. I say just clean your bathrooms when its dirty, and you'll be considered sanitary, at least to me.
